Need: A national speciality retail chain needed to revise their
research and reconciliation process. The current process used multiple reports during the count’s
variance research. In-house teams, not dedicated to stocktaking, were also slowing things down due to lack of inventory experience. Redundancy was causing unnecessary labour cost and reconciliation time.
- A new process was needed, using one report that combined the Variance and Items Not Counted reports
- Program tests were required to run in-stores and through the customer's store operations team
Solution: RGIS got to work on researching and evaluating the issue right away. Experienced inventory managers
worked directly with the store operations team.
RGIS’ inventory teams tested the new stocktaking program in several stores before roll-out.
There were
no disruptions to sales or regular operations thanks to RGIS’ auditors.
Results: With the new stocktaking program and
RGIS’ skilled auditors, the retailer now completes the
stocktake in half the time. The research process has also been cut in half thanks to eliminating redundancies.
- Accurate inventory results are now possible
- In-house employees are no longer pulled away from regular sales tasks
