Moving Stock to New Warehouse Carousel

A large healthcare provider in Australia, committed to ensuring all customers have access to a range of public healthcare services aimed at achieving good health and well-being, required the support of RGIS. Through a network of 16 hospital and health services, the healthcare provider delivers a range of integrated services including hospital inpatient, outpatient and emergency services, community and mental health services, aged care services and public health and health promotion programs.

    THE CHALLENGE

The healthcare provider purchased and installed carousels at a warehouse to house small stock items which they supply to hospitals, so required RGIS to provide the following:

    • Move and count selected stock which needed to be transferred into the carousels
    • Provide an accurate stock file for the carousel stock
    • Assign bin numbers for each stock line going into the carousel
    • Bin locations would be pre-labelled on the tubs which stock was going to be placed into before going into the carousel by Queensland Health
    • Stock was assigned to one of two size tubs, each tub would be pre-labelled with unique bin numbers
    • To be completed over two days

    Why RGIS?

Customers use RGIS to count and move stock to ensure inventory is transferred accurately, efficiently, and with full traceability. This controlled approach minimises disruption, reduces errors, and provides reliable data to support smooth operational transitions.

    Results

The healthcare provider found that by outsourcing the warehouse carousel stock move and count project to RGIS, the following was achieved:

    • Provided a reliable and accurate output file to load into the new carousel’s stock management system

    • Fully populated with stock in the carousel

    • Count and movement of stock was completed within the time frame of two days

    Conclusion
