A multinational logistics, supply chain, manufacturing and consultancy company headquartered in England, required the support of RGIS. It has operations in Europe, North America, Australia and Japan and works across a variety of sectors that include automotive, retail, technology and rail.
THE CHALLENGE
The logistics group has a National Health Service (NHS) contract, and due to Covid-19, the UK government ordered in huge amounts of medical supplies into the UK to help deal with the pandemic. The company needed support to help validate and update stock records, so required RGIS to provide the following:
- Complete a stock count of 14 different 3PL warehouse locations
- Support the project for four months
- Identify the location of all products
- Provide an accurate report of exactly what NHS stock they had in each location
- All counts to be validated by the 3PL warehouse

Our Solutions
The logistics group partnered with RGIS to complete the multiple 3PL warehouse stock count project, and RGIS provided the following:
After initial meetings with the customer, RGIS scheduled a team of 12 experienced RGIS auditors working in three shift patterns per day, in teams of four
Teams worked between 5 and 6 days a week over the four-month period, in order to complete the count on time
Pallets were lowered by 3PL teams to be counted
Any issues or variances were fed directly back to the customer and the 3PL warehouse in a daily report, so that any discrepancies could be investigated
Results
The logistics group found by outsourcing the multiple 3PL warehouse stock count project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:
Accurately counted over 200,000 SKUs and pallets across 14 locations
A bespoke program was created, so that it can be replicated to use in further counts for the logistics group
Completed the count in the four-month period, as requested by the customer
The customer was able to reset the stock figures and knew exactly where all the stock was situated across the 14 locations
The customer was extremely satisfied with the services provided by RGIS
RGIS continue to do regular checks on the 3PL warehouses to ensure good practices are being followed

Conclusion
By partnering with RGIS to carry out a large-scale stock count across multiple 3PL warehouse locations, the logistics group achieved accurate, validated visibility of critical NHS stock during an unprecedented period of demand. RGIS’s disciplined approach, multi-shift resourcing, and daily variance reporting enabled discrepancies to be identified and resolved quickly, while completing the project within the required four-month timeframe. As a result, the customer regained full control of stock records across all locations and established a repeatable, robust process for ongoing warehouse validation and compliance.
