    flexible stock count solution

A food supermarket chain that was founded in 1992, required the support of RGIS. The store network in Budapest currently operates five stores and launched a home delivery service in 1999. The supermarket chain was one of the first in Hungary to open its online store in the spring of 2000, which has a product selection of 8400 items, updated daily.

    THE CHALLENGE

The customer required RGIS to provide the following:

    • Count all stock in all stores, on the same day
    • The customer to be able to check accuracy
    • Count all items in store including vegetable and bakery items which have no labels to scan
    • National coverage to complete all stores

    Why RGIS?

The supermarket chain needed a flexible solution to count stock in all stores on the same day.

    Our Solutions

The supermarket chain partnered with RGIS to complete the simultaneous store stock count project, and RGIS provided the following:

    • Scheduled teams of between 7-21 experienced RGIS auditors depending on the size of the store

    • The customer completed rechecks of 50% of stock in each of the stores for accuracy

    • Items with no labels to scan were checked against a list provided by the customer

    Results

The supermarket chain found by outsourcing the simultaneous store stock count project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:

    • All stores were counted on the same day as requested by the customer

    • Counted 60,000 to 120,000 units per store

    • Achieved 99% accuracy

    Conclusion

By partnering with RGIS to deliver a simultaneous, nationwide store stock count, the supermarket chain achieved accurate, like-for-like inventory visibility across all locations in a single day. RGIS’s scalable teams, controlled processes, and support for customer-led accuracy checks ensured all product types—including unlabelled fresh items—were counted reliably. As a result, the retailer met its timing requirements, achieved 99% accuracy, and gained confidence in consistent stock data across the entire estate.
