    One of Ireland’s leading forecourt and convenience retailers, with 410 sites across Ireland, offering a wide variety of products for customers, required the support of RGIS. The retailer is part of a Canadian group which employs over 130,000 employees globally, and has 16,000 stores in over 20 countries worldwide.

    THE CHALLENGE

    The customer required RGIS to provide the following:

    • To count two convenience stores per day
    • Provide the reports for each store on the same day they were counted
    • Complete spot checks and variance reporting for each store count

    Why RGIS?

    The convenience store chain needed a solution to count all departments within the forecourt convenience stores within a short period of time.

    The convenience store chain partnered with RGIS to complete the petrol station convenience store stock count project, and RGIS provided the following:

    • Scheduled two to four experienced RGIS auditors to count each petrol station, depending on the size of the store

    • Liaised with the Store Manager to freeze the stock file, prepare the on hand file and process the file before the count started

    • Counted the following departments at each petrol station: beverages, tobacco, candy/snacks, car products, consumer products, entertainment and groceries

    • 20% of areas were checked by the Store Manager

    • Updated the Store Manager every 30-45 minutes with the progress, verification accuracy and percentage of completeness

    Results

    The convenience store chain found by outsourcing the petrol station convenience store stock count project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:

    • Completed two petrol station stock counts per day as requested by the customer

    • Accurately counted an average of 35,000 units with 1,100 product lines in each store

    Conclusion

    Completed each petrol station in four hours, including spot checks, variance reporting and uploaded the data back to the customers system.
