Production, Picking Warehouse and High Rack Warehouse Count

A group of companies, with headquarters in Germany, is a privately owned family business that is an international automotive supplier with 80 locations in 28 countries. Customers include almost all major manufacturers of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The automotive supplier manufactures components in the field of exhaust gas purification, thermal management, and air conditioning for all types of vehicles.

The automotive supplier required a solution to complete a full inventory within the warehouse and production facility departments, including logging details of each part, so required RGIS to provide the following:

  • Experience in counting high volumes of stock within an industrial warehouse environment
  • Complete a physical inventory count of all parts across two locations
  • Compile data on each part
  • Provide an updated inventory database
  • Execute the project within a strict time frame of three days

The automotive supplier partnered with RGIS to complete the full warehouse and production facility department inventory project, and provided the following:

  • RGIS teams visited the locations pre inventory, to assess the project and prepare procedures
  • Scheduled a team of 45 experienced RGIS auditors for each location per shift
  • The inventory was divided into four parts; main warehouse, production departments, picking warehouse and high rack warehouse, as different data needed to be captured in each section
  • The customers employees assisted with providing pallets for counting using forklifts
  • Information was captured for each part, including quantity, weight and size
  • Teams had to weigh smaller parts in some circumstances, in order to get exact total amount

The automotive supplier found by outsourcing the full warehouse and production facility department inventory project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:

  • Accurately counted approximately 15,000,000 parts across the two locations
  • RGIS teams produced the same output in terms of data, for each part of the inventory, which was merged into one final detailed report for the customer
  • Project was completed within three days, as requested by the customer
  • The customer benefitted in terms of costs and time compared to the former inventories when they used their own employees for the process
  • The customer was very happy with the RGIS teams and will be working with RGIS again in the future
